mid-staffs-logoFollowing the announcement by Andrew Lansley, Secretary of State for Health, regarding a Public Inquiry into Stafford Hospital, a message from Sir Stephen Moss, Chairman of Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust and Antony Sumara, Chief Executive of Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust has been forwarded to the LINk for information.

“Dear Colleague,

You will no doubt have seen speculation in the press that there is to be a Public Inquiry into past events at our Trust and the wider regulatory NHS organisations.  Today, this inquiry was formally announced by the Health Secretary Andrew Lansley and this does not come as a surprise to us, as it formed part of the Government’s election campaign.

We hope that this Public Inquiry will help to shed further light on what went wrong in the past and give answers to those families that continue to suffer.  It is vitally important that the NHS listens to what people have to say so that the mistakes of the past are not repeated”.

The full message can be downloaded here.

Staffordshire LINk is working in collaboration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) who are undertaking a 12 month review of Stafford Hospital to determine what progress has been made since the original investigation published in March 2009. CQC would like to hear of people’s experiences, both positive and negative of using Stafford Hospital services from the 1st January 2010 to 31st March 2010.  This relates to any service whether Inpatient, Outpatient, or Accident and Emergency.   CQC will use the feedback from this survey to decide what they will focus on during their visit to the hospital.  Anyone wanting to give feedback on their experience, can download a survey form here and email it to the LINk at enquiries@staffordshirelink.staffs.com   Alternatively, please telephone the LINk Support Team on 01785 887990 to request a survey form and freepost envelope.
